Bi-Weekly Lecture Series

Guest Speaker: Daniel Haehn, PhD

Date: Wednesday, September 02 at 10:00 AM

Title: Brain Connectivity, Machine Perception, and Computer Graphics - all at different scales! Abstract:

In Machine Psychology, we study neural networks - natural and artificial ones. We are interested in brain connectivity analysis at the micro- and macro-scales to drive neuroscientific research. At the same time, we look at the graphical perception capabilities of modern machine learning algorithms. In this talk, I will present multiple visual computing projects from my post-FNNDSC time and current on-going work.

Biography:

Daniel Haehn is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB) and Associate of the Harvard Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Daniel previously worked as a researcher at Brigham and Women's Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania, Mental Canvas, and Apple. Daniel is also an FNNDSC veteran and remembers working with Dr. Ellen Grant and Dr. Rudolph Pienaar to be one of the best times in his professional career. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University and a Diploma (B.S. and M.S.) in Medical Computer Science from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Daniel strongly supports open science and open education.
