Title: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): Current state of the art and future trends in using OCT for interventional cardiology
Abstract:
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is used in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI or Angioplasty) procedures to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. OCT provides high resolution images of the coronary artery and can help interventional cardiologists visualize plaque morphology with high resolution during their PCI procedure. This talk will focus on the current state of the art in OCT for intravascular imaging of the coronary arteries. It will look at the latest trends in clinical data and at future technology trends in AI and Machine Learning that can be applied to OCT images to assist PCI procedures.
Biography:
Ajay Gopinath, PhD. is the Director of R&D at Abbott Lab’s Vascular division. He leads the Advanced Technology and Software Development teams, focusing on feasibility and new product development of Abbott’s Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology. He has over 17 years of medical imaging experience in both academia and industry. His focus over the past 8 years has been on OCT image analysis and product development. Ajay received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin. He currently resides in Bedford, MA with his wife and two sons.
