FNNDSC Weekly Newsletter - Week 22
Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a great long weekend.
Upcoming events:
June 1: Dr. M. Judah Folkman Research Day
Each year for the past 21 years, over 100 investigators from more than 25 departments, divisions and programs have used Dr. M. Judah Folkman Research Day to present their research to the Boston Children's Hospital community. Research Day is named in memory of the late Dr. Judah Folkman, founder and former chief of the Program in Vascular Biology, and a pioneering scientist in the field of angiogenesis.
At present we expect, similar to last year, to hold a virtual poster session. Presenters will be asked to prepare a slide presentation of up to 8 slides instead of an actual poster. These presentations will be uploaded to an internal Wiki site as pdfs. The audience will be able to view the posters for three days starting on June 1st. Email addresses for the first author will be provided so that viewers can reach out and ask any question they may have. If an in-person poster session becomes possible, it will be on June 1, from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Longwood Inn

BCH COVID-19 Update:
Due to increased COVID-19 incidence in the community and at Boston Children's, beginning today, May 12, 2022, the following policies will be reinstated:
Universal Masking Reinstated
All Boston Children's staff, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear an ear-loop mask indoors in all locations at Boston Children's, including administrative and research areas.
Staff must maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet when unmasked and eating indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
In-person meetings are permitted, but all attendees must be masked throughout the meeting.
Masking is not required in the rooftop garden and other outdoor spaces on Boston Children's campuses.
Staff Eating Together
Staff must maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet when unmasked and eating indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
Eating is not permitted at meetings indoors unless staff can maintain a distance of 6ft when eating.
Eating in groups is safer in outdoor spaces, such as the Rooftop Garden.
Boston Children's Sponsored Events
For indoor Boston Children's sponsored events, universal masking is required for all attendees. Eating/drinking is not permitted at indoor events.
There are no masking or eating restrictions for outdoor events.
Return to Work Guidance for Staff
As a reminder, Boston Children's staff may return to work 7 days after the onset of COVID-19 symptoms (or 7 days after a positive test if asymptomatic) if the following conditions are met:
At least 24 hours without fever, off fever-reducing medication
Significant improvement in symptoms
Please note these return to work criteria do not apply to staff with severe/critical COVID-19 or immunocompromised status. This time frame also does not apply to the isolation period for patients with COVID-19. For more information please see the Return to Work Guidance.
